AHVJ Meeting with Community Members – 12 July 2025

On 12 July, AHVJ held a meeting with over 20 members of the Hazara community from Tilak Nagar, Bhogal, and Malvia Nagar. The session began with an introduction to AHVJ’s work as a bridge between Hazara refugees and UN agencies in India, as well as its collaboration with BOSCO, MAP, and Simorgh. The association aims to preserve Hazara culture and raise community awareness. AHVJ presented its activities from 20 April to 12 July 2025, including meetings with BOSCO and the UN, cultural events like the Hazara Cultural Festival and World Refugee Day celebrations, and follow-up discussions on interview delays, halted resettlement programs, and reduced staff. Community members suggested connecting with Australian-based associations, and youth requested educational and recreational courses. AHVJ offered to collect names for potential course participation. Refugees were reminded to carry their ID cards due to police checks in the metro, and those applying for Australian humanitarian visas were asked to share their lists for follow-up.
