On Thursday, 19 June, a program was held by UNHCR at the UNESCO office in Chanakyapuri to commemorate World Refugee Day. The event included speeches, a beautiful dance performance by students from the Tilak Nagar Education Center, personal life stories shared by refugees, and a group discussion. During the program, representatives including the Head of UNESCO, Ms. Areti Saini, the Head of UNHCR India, and Mr. Sharp, the UN Office Coordinator in India, gave speeches highlighting the importance of Refugee Day. Several Indian government officers, lawyers, and individuals working in the refugee sector also participated in the group discussion. The Association of Hazara Voice for Justice expresses its appreciation for the beautiful performance by the students of the Tilak Nagar Center during this event.
The Association of Hazara Voice for Justice (AHVJ) was founded in 2020 in New Delhi, India, by a group of Hazara refugees with the aim of advocating for the rights of refugees living in India and serving as a bridge between the Hazara community in India and relevant refugee organizations. AHVJ is also dedicated to offering educational, vocational, and awareness programs to help refugees enhance their skills and capacities. Our vision is to build a society where everyone has equal opportunities and is treated fairly, regardless of their affiliations, ensuring that no one’s rights are violated or overlooked.
